Li, Wenxin is a professor in the School of Computer Science, and has served as the Associate Dean of School of EECS since 2010. She received her B.S, M.S and Ph.D. from Department of Computer Science and Technology, Peking University in 1990, 1993 and 2001 respectively. She got her second Ph.D. from Department of Computing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2004. Her research interests include biometrics, image processing, pattern recognition, content-based image retrieval and education. She is also interested in tough problem solving and now acting as the leader of the Peking University ACM/ICPC competition team.

Dr. Li has published 3 books, and more than 50 research papers, and most of them are published in top-tier conferences and journals. Dr. Li has won many awards for her excellent teaching in the area of computer programming. She received Founder Education Award for Excellent Teaching at Peking University (2009), Excellent Teaching Award at Peking University (2008), and Koda Education Award for Excellent Teaching at Peking University (2003). She also received Asia Outstanding Contribution Award of ACM/ICPC (2006, 2010), and Asia Leadership Award of ACM/ICPC (2016).

Dr. Li’s research achievements are summarized as follows:

1) Biometrics based individual identification. Dr. Li is one of the first researchers worked on palmprint recognition and her research results are widely referenced in this area. From 2006 she started to work on finger vein recognition and her patent on finger vein capture device and algorithm are transferred to industry and a series of products on finger vein have been used in various applications by more than 10M people.

2) Computer Science education. Dr. Li had been a National Olympiad in Informatics Scientific Committee Member and participated in the organization of different level of Olympiad in Informatics and acted as coach and deputy coach of Chinese team many times. She had been the coach of ACM/ICPC Peking University Team and organized the Asian Regional Contest of ACM/ICPC several times. She led the Peking University Computing Education Lab and led a team developed an online judge system to help to improve the programming courses quality and now the system has nearly 1M users worldwide. She also led School of EECS upgrade their curriculum and led to publish a series of books on Peking University EECS education.
