Hu, Zhenjiang is a chair professor and the head of School of Computer Science, Dean of School of Computer Science, Peking University.


He received BS and MS degrees from Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong Unviersity in 1988 and 1991 respectively,and PhD degree from Department of Information Engineering of University of Tokyo in 1996. He became a lecturer (assistant professor) in 1997 and an associate professor in 2000 in University of Tokyo. He joined National Institute of Informatics(NII)as a full professor in 2008, a full professor in Department of Communication and Information Engineering of University of Tokyo and NII in 2018, before joining Peking University in 2019.


His main interest is in programming languages and software engineering in general,and functional programming, bidirectional transformation, and parallel programming in particular. His work is characterized by developing methodologies to support rigorous development of robust software systems. He was awarded the basic research achievement awards from Japan Society for Software Science and Technology. He is famous for his contribution to the establishment of the well-known NII Shonan Meetings. He is Fellow of Japan Federation of Engineering Society, ACM Distinguished Scientist, Member of Academia Europaea (Academy of Europe), IEEE Fellow, Member of Engineering Academy of Japan.
