Jiao, Wenpin is a professor in the School of Computer Science. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. from East China University of Science and Technology in 1991 and 1997, respectively, and Ph.D. from Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2000. His research interests include software engineering, adaptive software, multi-agent systems.

Dr. Jiao has published more than 70 research papers, and many of them are published in reputable international journals and conferences, such as Journal of Software ans Systems, IET Software, Computational Intelligence, FSE, ICSR. He is serving as a member of CAAI Knowledge Engineering and Distributed Intelligence Specialized Committee.

Dr. Jiao has several research projects including NSFC, 973 programs, 863 project, etc. His research achievements are summarized as follows:

1)      Self-adaptation mechanisms of Multi-agent systems situated in dynamic environments: He proposed several new self-adaptation mechanisms for MAS when the environment is dynamic and unpredictable, such as injecting adaptation scenarios dynamically or exchanging experiences among agents. The proposed mechanisms can efficiently improve the adaptivity of MAS situated in dynamic environments. He also proposed an approach to mathematically measuring the adaptation level of software systems in dynamic environments.

2)      Autonomous component technologies: He studied on constructing self-adaptive software systems by using autonomous components. Particularly, he put forward a formal model for autonomous components which encapsulates state, behaviors, decision-making and interactions and proposed an approach to constructing adaptive software dynamically by automatically choosing and composing so that autonomous components.
